Learning Mandarin in Iran How China’s BRI promotes

This is an advanced Chinese language
class at the Confucius Institute
in the University of Tehran.

Every week, students learn the Chinese language and explore its culture.

Chinese teachers are sent to
teach at the Confucius Institutes
in universities and Confucius Schools
in secondary schools.

There are over 1,500 Confucius
schools and institutes in more than
120 countries worldwide.

Designed to promote China,
they are often criticised for
being a propaganda arm of the
ruling Communist Party.

But in Iran, students enjoy
learning about the Chinese culture.

China and Iran have always enjoyed excellent bilateral relations.

This is a regular practice session
at the Iran Wushu Federation.

One of the many cultural exchange programmes between the two countries.

These exchange programmes
transcend borders and encourage
mutual understanding.
